THE CAREER MUM

'Sometimes the bravest and most important thing you can do is just show up.' Brene Brown

I am Amanda Newman. I have had a successful 20-year IT career in one of the largest companies in the world. During that time, I have had 4 children including identical twin boys. As a so called ‘Career Mum’ I want to help women embarking on or during their own journey through the many challenges, decisions and the rewards.
The Career Mum will provide a unique mentoring resource for you, but also a resource for companies looking to embrace, understand and develop their vast network of talented women.
If you want to join the discussion, please join the group https://facebook.com/groups/TheCareerMum. I look forward to hearing from you.

Much like the song there really isn’t much that I need personally, however in 2018 I hope I am able to keep a healthy perspective on life and be mindful and grateful.

Pearls of wisdom 20th December 2017

As a woman who has had 4 kids while managing a career I often get asked how I do it all. Of course the reality is it’s a juggle, I’m no different and I don’t get it right all the time. However here are my learnings along the way

    • Find a role model. I don’t just mean a wo...

I’m beginning to wonder if everything that I’ve ever understood about job hunting has shifted? The old traditional way, you look on a jobs board, or speak to a recruiter and they tell you what they have, feels like it may have changed. Of course it’s been 20+ years sin...

    • I attended a free training class at the new digital garage. I’ve blogged here it is definitely worth a look if you are considering training.

I recently had the pleasure of attending a FREE social media training at Google digital garage Manchester . It is also worth noting that they have free Digital garage online training.
